In the following video a driver yesterday morning decided to make a left hand turn from the normal traffic lane. I made my not too bright decision during this incident almost involving myself in a collision.
Watch the video full screen and you should be able to see that I saw the red lights turn green and my bad decision was anticipating the cars ahead of me would start moving. I was wrong, as some ass hat decided to make a left turn from this traffic lane rather than the turn lane.
In the next video look carefully just to the left of the windshield of the car in front of me. As the other cars make their left turns a van decides to join them from the normal traffic lane. Two drivers coming down that turn lane had already slowed as their light turned yellow.
Then as I go to make a left turn into the parking lot I watched a car approaching using the bike lane, I thought he was headed for the prior driveway, but nope he kept coming, then I thought the driver would turn into the same driveway as me, but nope, on he went using the bike lane as a traffic lane. As I pulled into the lot I looked left and noticed he had followed the bike lane all the way to the corner to make a right turn. This is not uncommon to see around Antelope Valley College, a lot of terrible drivers.
If you find yourself in the incorrect lane for the turn you want to make the proper action is to continue down the road until you can safely turn around and go back to make your turn.
Try to remember not to anticipate other drivers actions when approaching a red light turning green as there may be someone else out of view that will change the situation.
