2022-03-17 Speeding and Illegal Passing

Be aware of surroundings, and stay calm.

Words I attempt to live by.

I really need to get a cam for the back of my car.

2022-03-08 Not the Wizard of Speed

Just enjoying an inside joke as this happens frequently with this neighbor, or even the situation in general.

Mapping a Trip

 Going on a trip?

Most of the time mapping software will guide you along known roads.

Sometimes, as many have heard in the news, it may steer you down treacherous trails.

A good idea when planning on software like Google Maps when it shows you the 'road map' view and you know the area is rural switch it to the 'satellite view' so you can see the actual surface.

It may save you from disaster.

012919 Chase

Driving into work today a muscle car blew past me, and as I turned my attention back to the road I saw pursuing law enforcement. There was a car in the opposing lane not getting out of the way so I hit the dirt and the office passed using the lane I had been in.

051818 One Trip Driving Home

It has been awhile since I posted, not due to people driving correctly though. I had been posting in a local FaceBook group. My drive home deserves a post here though.

Today I left work at 11:30 AM and headed home. About three miles into the trip I come across an intersection with a fresh two car fender bender that has closed the through intersection due to officers parking all wonky for safety. Easy to divert with a right turn and on my way once more.

Several miles later I am going down another major avenue that is marked at 60 MPH, which is the speed I am going. As I approach an upcoming intersection it is red with cross traffic, as I get closer the light changes so I keep going 60 MPH. Observe the lady approaching the same intersection from the right as she pauses briefly then executes a right turn across my path...

Shortly after I am sitting at another intersection waiting for my left turn arrow. Ah there it is, pull out and watch the truck, going straight, opposite me also pull forward...

010615 Rough Morning For Antelope Valley Animals

Good morning, it has been a rough morning for Antelope Valley animals. During my drive in this morning I encountered a very squashed coyote, an endangered badger that was hit and it looks like it drug itself to the side of the road before dying, a pet cat and one bird of some type.

California Badger on side of Ave N, Palmdale, CA

I feel bad for the animals because so often the deaths could have been avoided. Often speed is involved, this morning alone I was passed in a 45 zone by two cars doing well above that. I counted 4 people that for sure were staring at their phones and starting to drift out of lane.

Please slow down, and ignore that phone, put it away when in the vehicle.

111514 Just Another Dumb Driver

Leaving Palmdale this afternoon headed for home via the Post Office I see a Chrysler 300 ahead that can not drive a straight line and as the beginning of this video shows, though it could get ahead through rapid lane changes in tight traffic.

Paper plates from Camacho Auto Sales and a seemingly talkative black female driver with at least one passenger. As we near Littlerock and the 45 zone I saw her coming up and zig zagging to get beside me, not even noticing the truck I was catching up to. We all slowed to about 50....

... Please note the two people in red walking just off the pavement as she passes the other truck using the side of the road. She was very close to those two folks, not  a care in the world as she accelerated to get pass the both of us to slam on her brakes for the car doing 40 at the next step down in speed.

This is why I classify her as a DUMB driver, not looking ahead, too busy chatting, dangerous passing, and speeding.
