There are various reasons why a road has double yellow no passing markings. Many think it is just due to line of sight, this is only one reason, others include upcoming intersections, too curvy to safely pass, and in this case the road surface having a very uneven surface.
Every work day I cover 25 miles to work and then 25 back home. Often encountering drivers that make me wish for yearly or bi-annual behind the wheel testing. After a few close calls (and friends telling me I must be making some of this up) I decided to purchase an inexpensive dash camera that turns on and off with the ignition. These posts are pieces of the near daily antics encountered driving in the Antelope Valley and beyond.

091813 High Speed Passing in Double Yellow Zone
This video is from two days ago. Driving home on Ave N between 60 to 65 MPH just as I was getting to the wash. This person came up behind me rather quickly, meaning he was speeding, but he could not pass due to traffic. Then the double yellow lines are on the road, his choice to pass not just me but the car in front of me as well.

This is a positive move
The last month or so has been slow for incidents my camera records. There have been lots of minor things and some big things that my camera did not catch (too far off or to the side or rearview).
Instead today I bring you something I feel is very positive. A man that was involved in a drunk driving incident publicly acknowledged he was in the wrong via YouTube. I am providing the link to the news article which has the video admission. USA Today - Driver says he killed a man in YouTube confession
There have been many hit and run accidents here in Southern California. In my area many go unreported do to only minor property damage and no witnesses. This is cowardly of the drivers. Stop, call the authority or if it is indeed minor leave a note and take responsibility.
